Primers for a tough and very resitant finish, formulated with acrylic polyurethane resin in a waterbased formula.Waterbased Poliurethane Primer. This Surface Primer can be used directly or mixed with other Auxiliary products like Varnishes, Mediums, etc. It is recomended to avoid mixing Surface Primer with alcohol and/or solvents. AV PREMIUM is a safe water-based, non toxic and highly versatile airbrush ready paint, suitable for all surfaces, but especially formulated for superior adhesion to metals, fibreglass, polyethylene, clear Lexanª polycarbonate, slot car and RC bodies, and all tuning and automotive applications.On some of these surfaces we recommend a basecoat of the Polyurethane Primer (62.061) for best results. Premium colors are flexible and exceptionally durable and permit prolonged exposure to weather without fading or losing their brilliance.
Premium colors have been formulated with micronized, permanent pigments and an extremely resistant, exterior grade hybrid resin-polyurethane base, which withstands impacts, resists chipping and cracking, as well as direct exposure to heat and outdoor elements without cracking or fading, and is fuel residue proof up to a least 35% Nitro.
AV Premium colors have superior flow, they are self-levelling and brush on with exceptional ease. For
airbrushing, the colors can be used directly from the bottle when using a nozzle size 0,3. For the metallic colors some dilution might be necessary, and for smaller nozzles (O.2mm or less) the use of the Reducer (62.066)
may be required. The recommended compressor setting is 30-60psi (2-4 bar).
The range consists of 20 bright opaque colors, 23 dazzling metallics and fluorescents, and 9 shimmering transparent Candy Colors. Pigments are used for weathering and ageing the finish of vehicles, armour, fortifications and structures; they are ideal for creating the effects of accumulated dust, mud, dirt and smoke produced by time and natural erosion.The pigments chosen for this range are all earth and iron oxides, especially suitable for all the different climatic and geographical conditions of the terrain of a diorama. To adhere the pigment to the surface of the model Matt Medium is used (70.540), or Pigment Binder (26.233) which dries more slowly and allows more time to simulate water and snow run-offs and to move the pigment into and around the details of the model. Many other special effects can be obtained by mixing pigments with the products in our Diorama Effects range such as Transparent Water (26.201) to achieve effects of oil and grease stains, or Sandy Paste (26.215) to create a rough, coarse surface for heavy dried mud or flaking deep rust. Reproducing the weathering of surfaces exposed to harsh climatic conditions is difficult to achieve and the washes offer the perfect solution.For armor, vehicles, planes, ship, figures and war game figures. All surfaces exposed to sun, wind and dust, rain and snow, experience a change in color, a loss of intensity, a dulling and general fading which however is not even or overall. For the model painter, these changes in color are very difficult to reproduce, and to achieve these effects on a model, washes or filters are the perfect solution.The washes are always needed to blend the edges of the colors on a model painted in various camouflage shades. The colors can also be mixed together to achieve further variations of shade and can be used with airbrush or brush, according to the model and the effect desired. Model Wash can be mixed with pigments to achieve a wide range of effects such as oil and flaked rust, mud, earth, dust, moss, etc. and when mixed with acrylic colors, they further help achieve the impact of heavy wear and weathering. The washed have been formulated with a modified acrylic resin so that the superficial tension is similar to that of the traditional solvent-based washes and filters, but with the advantage of working with a water-based medium. Average drying time is around 20 minutes. If several layers of wash are to be applied, it is best to wait around 40 minutes between applications. Painting tools are cleaned with water.
